Between virtual reality and physical reality

School 4.0: innovative schools, wiring, new classrooms and workshops (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 3.2)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan provides for updating school facilities into adaptable, flexible and digital learning environments, with technologically advanced workshops and a work-based learning process.

This measure accelerates the digital transition of the Italian school system with four initiatives:

- Transformation of around 100 000 traditional classes into connected learning environments, with the introduction of related educational devices

- Creation of workshops for digital professions in the second cycle

- Digitalization of school administrations - Interior wiring cabling of approximately 40 000 school buildings and related devices.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 2.1 billion.

The project for the realization of laboratories for the digital professions of the future is part of this investment.

The Istituto Omnicomprensivo "Raffaele Capriglione" of S. Croce di Magliano includes: the former Istituto di Istruzione Superiore di Santa Croce di Magliano the former Istituto Comprensivo "Michele Del Gatto" of S. Croce di Magliano the schools of Santa Croce di Magliano and Rotello ex'Istituto Comprensivo "Jovine" comprising the plexuses of Bonefro, Colletorto and S. Giuliano di Puglia.

The Liceo Scientifico "R. Capriglione" of Santa Croce di Magliano is structured, therefore, as follows: first two years, second two years and fifth year characterized by a course "Liceo scientifico" and a course "Liceo scientifico: opzione scienze applicate".

All plexuses are equipped with internet connection, but in the peripheral plexuses the quality of the connection does not satisfy all users.

Local authorities must be involved in strengthening the incoming signal. The laboratories that we intend to implement will be two:

• a laboratory will be of chemistry and physics and will be implemented with hardware and software that will allow the user to work with virtual content in an immersive environment.

• an innovative laboratory with computer and support for the use of AI and the study of languages that allows a different methodological approach to acquire the knowledge and skills of foreign languages and learn to create communicativecontent.

This project is financed by the NRRP by EUR 124.044.
