The goal of the investment is to develop and launch eight Spanish satellites as part of the Atlantic Constellation, an Earth-observation initiative implemented jointly with Portugal.

The project will provide high-frequency data (every 2–3 hours) to improve the prevention and management of floods, wildfires, droughts and heatwaves, while also strengthening maritime surveillance and land management.

Spain will invest €40 million from the Recovery and Resilience Plan under the Aerospace PERTE. Procurement for the construction and testing of the satellites is launching this month.

Implementation is progressing, with the full constellation expected to be operational in 2027.
