Actions for independent living and de-institutionalisation for the elderly ( casa Vittoria)

Supporting vulnerable people and preventing institutionalization  (Mission 5, Component 2, Investment 1)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan provides support for vulnerable people and preventing institutionalisation. This investment will include the following interventions: (I) supporting parenting skills and preventing vulnerability of families and children; (II) supporting an autonomous life and de-institutionalisation for elderly people; (II) reinforcing home social services to guarantee early supported discharge and prevent hospitalization; (III) strengthening social services and preventing burnout among social workers.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 85 million at the national level.

As part of this investment, the project aimed to prevent the institutionalisation of the elderly by promoting independent living through innovative housing solutions, enhanced home services, and integrated socio-medical care. It included strengthening territorial domiciliary networks, redeveloping public facilities into independent flats, and using technologies like home automation and telemedicine. Five projects involved 260 elderly beneficiaries. Activities involved 260 elderly beneficiaries through the following projects: “CO.abiti_AMO”, “Nuova Roma 3”, “Ristrutturiamo Casa Giada”, “Casa Vittoria”, “Stiamo insieme anche se..”.

This project is financed by the Recovery and Resilience Facility with EUR 2.460.000,00.
