The Scientific Park of the University of Barcelona now hosts Europe's first high-performance Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) equipment, and the world's second, thanks to NextGenerationEU funds.
With a capacity to reach 1GHz frequency and featuring new superconductor technology, this equipment facilitates the study of complex and dynamic biomolecules' characteristics, the identification of therapeutic targets, and the design of new biotechnological drugs.
It also incorporates sustainability criteria by reusing helium and implementing artificial intelligence systems in data management to ensure accessibility, interoperability, and reusability.
Located at the Barcelona Science Park, this apparatus is managed by the Scientific and Technical Centers of the University of Barcelona (CCiTUB) and is available to the entire scientific community, contributing to the creation of the leading hub for structural biology in southern Europe.
