Accelerating the digitisation of film production and distribution; Project: THE NEPHILIM PROJECT

The general objective of the project is the production and distribution of an animated short film, with an estimated duration of 10 minutes, which leads to the consolidation of the capacity of the micro-enterprise in the production and distribution of films and to accelerate the digital transition of producers and distributors of films in Romania by increasing the capacities of digital production, distribution, marketing and promotion, including digital archiving technologies. The project proposed for financing contributes to increasing competitiveness by making and supplying a high-quality short film to the market. 

The project proposes a high aesthetic and technical standard, based on the team's vast experience in the coordination of animation production. This motivation involves the use of modern equipment in the flow of the project and the hiring of qualified personnel in order to optimize the production process in terms of the result, with as few as possible of the technical compromises that define projects carried out with limited means. Thus, in the initial, planning and pre-production stages, the team will have the capacity to undertake a real research & development process in order to create a suitable technical tool – more precisely, it is the initial technical research stage, generally associated high-quality productions, such as Pixar, SPA (Spain, Klaus) or Fortiche (France, Arcane).

The proposed project is a digitally animated short film, "Nephilim", which proposes a very high standard of 2D and 3D animation. 

Summary 

An explorer lands on a seemingly deserted island beyond the Arctic Circle, where he discovers a colossal Tuniit, a 100-meter-tall giant that catches whales with its bare hands, a survivor of the Flood and the last of its kind.

The film depicts the relationship between the two, which slowly evolves out of a need to communicate, complicated excessively by the fact that the two have completely different perceptions of time, a relationship similar to that between a man and a fly, for example. 

The man moves, gestures and communicates infinitely faster (which initially keeps him alive, dodging the giant's attacks). In the end, the two end up developing a complex means of communication, which resembles that of whales.

Nephilim is a story about loneliness, misfit and the need to communicate and be understood. The story is based on several Inuit myths, but also the story of the Nefilms from the Hebrew Bible. 

The activities of the project are: project management, advertising, participation in a training course and the realization of the 10-minute animation by purchasing specific services.
