Today, December 1, 2025, in Brussels, Michael McGrath, Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, Rule of Law, and Consumer Protection, will join the fourth and final plenary of the High-Level Forum on the Future of EU Criminal Justice. The High-Level Forum, co-organised with the Council Presidency, brought together civil society and all relevant institutional actors to reflect together on a common long-term vision for the future of EU criminal justice. This key meeting marks the conclusion of the process launched in March 2025. The programme features contributions from representatives of all stakeholders involved, including leading experts from academia and practice, and representatives from Eurojust, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO), Europol and FRA.Commissioner McGrath will deliver concluding remarks, alongside Danish Chief Prosecutor, Henriette Vincens Norring, and the Chair of the European Parliamentary Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE), Javier Zarzalejos. The aim is to endorse the final report summarising the year’s discussions and presenting a shared vision for the future of EU criminal justice policy.
