The Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy, Miguel Arias Cañete, will be in Paris on Thursday 14 February to address the European Affairs and Sustainable Development Committees of the French National Assembly, in order to present the EU’s long-term vision for a prosperous, modern, competitive and climate-neutral economy by 2050, published by the Commission last November.

He will also have meetings with François de Rugy (Minister for the Ecological and Solidarity Transition), Brune Poirson (Secretary of State of the Ministry for Ecological and Solidarity Transition), and Laurence Tubiana (CEO of the European Climate Foundation, and former climate change negotiator for the 2015 COP21 climate conference). A meeting with environmental NGOs is also planned.

This is the first of a number of visits that the Commissioner is planning in the coming weeks and months to highlight the EU’s long-term vision, aligned with the objectives of the Paris Agreement.
