On 19-20 March, the “PCI Energy Days” take place in Brussels. PCIs, or Projects of Common Interest, are key cross border infrastructure projects that link the energy systems of EU countries. They help the EU achieve its energy policy and climate objectives: affordable, secure and sustainable energy for all citizens, and the long-term decarbonisation of the economy. The day and a half policy conference and exhibition will provide project promoters with the opportunity to showcase their projects and share their experience on how to build future-proof and environmentally sound energy infrastructure by using innovative technological solutions, involving local communities and finding new approaches to financing. Participants will also be able to attend a series of policy conferences dealing with the most pressing issues of project implementation. The ‘PCI Garden’ will open its gates on the first day of the event, giving participants the opportunity to network with project promoters, regulators and policy-makers. The PCI Energy Days will also host the signature ceremony of the Renewables Grid Initiative’s “Marine Grid Declaration”. Increasing shares of renewables need to be integrated into the European power system to achieve the Union climate and energy targets.
