Implementation dialogue on the EU Roma Strategic Framework with Commissioner Hadja Lahbib

Implementation dialogue Commissioner Lahbib EU Roma Strategic Framework

European Commissioner  Hadja Lahbib will host an Implementation Dialogue on the EU Roma Strategic Framework for equality, inclusion and participation and national Roma strategic frameworks on 12 November in Brussels. This event follows the 18th edition of the European Platform for Roma Inclusion, which gathered around 200 stakeholders in early October.

The Dialogue will allow an exchange between the Commissioner and representatives from various stakeholders actively engaged in implementing the EU Roma Strategic Framework and making use of EU funds.

The summary conclusions from the Implementation Dialogue will be published on the dedicated implementation dialogues website and on DG JUST official website.

Objective

The general objective of this Dialogue is to facilitate discussions between key stakeholders and Commissioner Hadja Lahbib on how to simplify and enhance the implementation of the EU Roma Strategic Framework and national Roma strategic frameworks. The Dialogue aims to gather insights to achieve EU-level targets under its horizontal and sectoral objectives, thereby supporting implementation of EU commitments to Roma equality, inclusion and participation. Participants are encouraged to identify key challenges, share best practices, and suggest improvements for better policy implementation.

Participants

This event is upon invitation only and will be conducted in-person. The Dialogue targets stakeholders involved in the implementation of national Roma strategic frameworks, including civil society organisations, managing authorities, researchers and social entrepreneurships. These participants play a crucial role in advancing Roma equality and inclusion policies, contributing their experiences and insights to enrich the discussion.

Background

President von der Leyen has tasked Commissioners to organise 2 Implementation Dialogues per year to align policy implementation with realities on the ground. As part of this commitment, this event seeks to streamline policies and reduce administrative burdens, facilitating a better effective implementation of policies. These dialogues complement existing fora for discussions with various stakeholders, such as the European Platforms for Roma Inclusion and the Roma Week, ensuring comprehensive and ongoing engagement.
