The European Commission is pleased to invite you to a workshop to discuss the Commission’s proposed main elements of the strategic plan on tackling mineral methane. The European Green Deal identifies energy-related methane emissions as an important issue requiring an accelerated initiative from the Commission. Internationally, proactive action could reinforce the EU’s global leadership in climate and energy. The objective of the workshop is to facilitate a discussion with EU stakeholders, representatives of the EU institutions and Member States. The Commission expects to receive the written comments and views of the stakeholders regarding the contents of the background document during the meeting, or before the end of March 2020, by sending an email to the functional mailbox: ener-methaneec [dot] europa [dot] eu (ener-methane[at]ec[dot]europa[dot]eu) Participation in person is not possible but will take place via webex instead. Participants will have the possibility to ask questions during the event by registering to www.slido.com and using the code #W279. To the extent possible, speakers will respond during the meeting.
