Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) effectively requires not only knowledge and skills, but also awareness of the potential threats to language variation, language rights and multilingualism, which is a fundamental value of the EU and EU integration. To enhance our understanding of the pedagogical implications of automated systems for translation, an analysis of their functioning, performance and impact on learning processes is needed, considering, in particular, how AI may affect the ability of students to interpret the source language text and reconstruct its meaning in the target language. This TEW also aims at describing the best practices for integrating AI into the curriculum, in order to help trainers define clear learning objectives and develop the students’ critical awareness, thus avoiding the risk of naturalizing incorrect language and translation choices.
