This Commission department is responsible for EU policy on regions and cities.

Responsibilities

The mission of the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) is to support the economic and social development of all regions of the European Union. Regional Policy is the EU’s main investment policy, constituting almost a third of the total budget for the period 2021-2027.
