Interpreting Europe Conference

DG Interpretation's annual flagship event brings together relevant stakeholders from the interpreting world.

Background

The Interpreting Europe Conference is the flagship event of the Directorate-General for Interpretation, and it brings together key figures in the interpreting industry and beyond to discuss the most pressing issues in the field.

The conference attracts hundreds of participants, both onsite and online, including partner universities from EU, candidate, and non-EU countries, as well as representatives from EU institutions, international organisations and various practitioners and stakeholders.

The event was first established in 1996 with the name SCIC-Universities Conference, and it has been acting as a forum to discuss the latest developments and trends in interpretation for almost three decades. In 2023, the event was renamed Interpreting Europe Conference to reflect its expanded scope beyond universities.
