Responsibilities
Directorate-General for Health & Food Safety (DG SANTE) is responsible for protecting the health of EU citizens, as well as animal health and welfare, plant health and food safety, through a One Health approach. We work to build a strong European Health Union, to improve public health and boost health preparedness and resilience in our Union. We ensure that Europe’s food is safe and sustainable, and safeguard the welfare of farm animals, as well of that of crops and forests.
