1-day media accreditation to the European Commission

Visiting journalists without an annual or 6-month accreditation can obtain a one-day badge for the European Commission press area (not valid for the European Parliament or Council).

How to apply

Journalists requesting this one-day accreditation need to send an email at least 24 hours prior to the event they want to attend to COMM-PRESSROOM-TEAMatec [dot] europa [dot] eu (COMM-PRESSROOM-TEAM[at]ec[dot]europa[dot]eu), attaching

  • national ID card or passport (non-EU citizens must provide a passport). The original document must be shown at the security desk.
  • one of the following documents
    • a valid national press card
    • a press card issued by the International Federation of Journalists
    • a letter from your editor-in-chief or an official email from your head office confirming that they request access for you for that specific day/event

The European Commission reserves the right to refuse the one-day accreditation if

  • the request is submitted after the deadline
  • the supporting documents do not meet the above conditions
  • the media organisation on whose behalf access is requested does not fulfil the criteria laid down in the rules for annual interinstitutional accreditation

A journalist may be granted no more than 24 one-day accreditations per calendar year.
