Valeria Darò is a Director in DG Translation in the European Commission in charge of coordinating the English, French and German translation departments. In addition, her directorate provides document- and web-editing services to Commission departments, and it manages translation quality. Valeria started her career in the Commission in 1996 as a translator. She has also worked in training and professional development, institutional affairs, briefings for Commissioners’ Cabinets and in the central planning team of DG Translation. She spent part of her career in the Commission Registry (in the Secretariat-General), which manages adoption procedures and the formal decision-making process. Her educational background is in conference interpretation. She initially worked as a university professor and researcher in the domain of neurolinguistics and linguistic cognitive processes.
