Webinars on the use of AI in justice
The DigitalJustice@2030 Strategy outlines several measures for promoting the use of AI in justice. The European Commission is aiming to support national authorities to decide whether they should use AI tools in justice and for what purpose, as well as how to do this in an efficient way.
To understand the practicalities, benefits and challenges related to the use of AI in justice, the European Commission will organise a series of webinars to discuss with Member States representatives, key players of the judiciary (judges, prosecutors, registrars and other court staff) as well as concerned stakeholders (lawyers, legal aid associations, etc.). Each webinar will be dedicated to a different category of AI tools and will start from concrete use cases.
1st webinar, 15 September 2026: AI tools for administrative tasks
The first webinar of this series was dedicated to AI tools used by court registry and other staff in their daily administrative and procedural tasks. The exchanges focused on AI tools that can assist in:
- Case and document management
- Preparation of procedural documents
- Workflow automation
- Case allocation
- Suggestion of procedural actions
- Information/assistance services to citizens/parties
Tools used by court staff in Slovenia (Central Document Digitalisation Centre – document management), Portugal (Citius Assistant – procedural actions), France (pre-orientation of cases) and Spain (AI services) were presented.
- 17 SEPTEMBER 2026
The second webinar is scheduled for early 2027 and will focus on AI tools assisting in transcription, translation and interpretation.
