EU funding for Roma integration

For the 2014-2020 period, Lithuania will be allocated a total of €6.8 billion in EU funds, out of which €4.7 billion will come from the European Social Fund (ESF) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Of this amount, at least 24.2% will be spent on the ESF, with at least 20% of that going towards the promotion of social inclusion and combating poverty. The latter amount could also finance Roma-related measures.

Facts and figures

National Strategy for Roma integration

Lithuania’s strategy also aims at increasing public tolerance through intercultural dialogue.

Lithuania’s ational Roma integration strategy (action plan) is aimed at promoting the participation of the Roma in public life, reducing social exclusion, enhancing self-awareness in the Roma community as well as increasing tolerance towards the Roma.

Assessment of Lithuania’s strategy implementation

In Spring 2014, the Commission assessed the implementation of the National Roma Integration Strategies in the four key areas of education, employment, healthcare and housing, as well as progress made in the fight against discrimination and the use of funding.

National Roma contact point

The contact point for the national Roma integration strategy in Lithuania is the Department of national minorities.
