Page contents Page contents EU Funding for Roma integration For the 2014-2020 period, Croatia will receive a total of €8 billion in EU funds, out of which €5.8 billion will come from the European Social Fund (ESF) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Of this amount, at least 24.6% will be spent on the ESF, with 20% of that going to the promotion of social inclusion and combating poverty. The latter could also finance Roma-related measures. ERDF managing authorities Facts and figures The Council of Europe estimates that there are approximately 30-40,000 Roma living in Croatia (1% of the population). National Roma integration strategy Croatia’s national strategy is based on long-standing experience of Roma inclusion issues under the national Roma programme. This includes the need for better vertical co-operation, as well as improved co-ordination between departments and stakeholders.
