How the platform works

The European Platform for Roma Inclusion ("EPRI") brings together national governments, the EU, international organisations and Roma civil society. It aims to stimulate cooperation and an exchange of experience on successful Roma inclusion.

The 19th European Platform for Roma Inclusion (EPRI) will take place on 5 November 2026 in Dublin, under the theme “Breaking Barriers, Building Futures: Participation in Education and Employment”. It is organised by the European Commission and the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The European Platform for Roma Inclusion (EPRI) is the main European forum bringing together national authorities, EU institutions, Roma and pro-Roma civil society and other stakeholders to discuss progress and challenges in advancing Roma equality, inclusion and participation. It provides a participatory space for dialogue on the implementation of the EU Roma Strategic Framework and national Roma strategic frameworks.

The 2026 Platform takes place at an important moment for Roma policy, with negotiations underway on the Multiannual Financial Framework 2028–2034 and on the future structure of National and Regional Partnership Plans. Against this background, and drawing on evidence from FRA, Member State reporting and the experience of Roma communities, the 19th EPRI will focus on how meaningful participation in quality education and employment — from early childhood development to labour market transition — can contribute to sustainable improvements in the lives of Roma people and communities, and on how EU and national funding, including the future MFF and Partnership Plans, can better support this.

The 19th European Platform for Roma Inclusion will pursue the following objectives:

  • Taking stock of progress, drawing on available evidence, including Member State reporting, FRA data, and the experience of Roma communities;
  • Identifying persistent barriers and bottlenecks preventing Roma from participating fully and equally in education and employment;
  • Exchanging promising approaches and practical solutions from Member States and other stakeholders;
  • Exploring how future EU and national funding can better support Roma inclusion, including through the MFF 2028–2034 and future Partnership Plans;
  • Developing concrete recommendations and commitments to inform EU and national Roma equality and inclusion policies and contribute to the Commission's next reporting on national Roma strategic frameworks.

The programme will combine political dialogue, lived experiences, good practices and participatory discussion. It will open with contributions from Irish and European political leaders and a representative of the Roma/Traveller community, followed by a keynote address on equality, participation and inclusion of Roma and Travellers. A dedicated session will bring together lived experiences and good practices in education and employment, followed by a political discussion on responses and commitments.

The event will bring together around 230 participants, including national authorities and National Roma Contact Points, EU funds managing authorities, Roma and pro-Roma civil society, experts, regional and local authorities, EU institutions and agencies, and international organisations and networks.

Roma summits

The European Commission regularly organises Roma summits in order to bring together high level representatives of EU institutions, national governments and civil society organisations from all over Europe.

Inclusion of Roma is a joint responsibility of Member States and the European Union. The Commission monitors the progress made by Member States through the EU Framework for National Roma Integration Strategies.

Roma summits are organised to take stock of the progress made in Roma inclusion at EU and national level and to renew commitments at the highest political level.
