Stefan De Keersmaecker has been Director for Citizens’ Communication at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) since 1 September 2025. He was previously the European Commission’s Deputy Chief Spokesperson. Stefan has over 30 years’ experience in the public and private sectors, with a strong background in various policy areas, including communication, employment, humanitarian aid, health and regional policy. Since 2001, he has held several key positions in the European Commission, including spokesperson for the health portfolio during the COVID-19 pandemic. Before joining the Commission, he worked as an attorney in various law firms.
