BiographySandra Phlippen is the Chief economist at the Group Economics of ABN AMRO Bank. Sandra is active in the public domain by regularly writing for newspapers and appearing on Dutch and international television and radio broadcasts. As external advisor to the Council of State, Sandra advises the Dutch government on national and European budget matters. From September 2016 to March 2018, she was an economics editor at the Algemeen Dagblad. Before that, she was the editor-in-chief of ESB, the bi-weekly magazine for economics and statistics in the Netherlands. Sandra was also a board member of the Society of Editors-in-Chief and a board member of the Royal Economic Society. Sandra Phlippen graduated from Erasmus University Rotterdam and obtained her PhD in 2008. Until her professorship in Groningen in 2023, she remained affiliated with Erasmus University Rotterdam. In January 2023, she started as an endowed professor of sustainable banking at the University of Groningen
