Menu - Example

When to use

  • this global navigation component can be used to feature two to seven main content sections (excluding 'Home')

When not to use

  • do not use if you need to display more than six level 1 pages, or more than 28 level 2 pages within a section. Instead, favour navigation list in this case.

Dos

  • keep the total number of level 1 menu items to seven or fewer, including 'Home' - to enable users to scan
  • when page titles are long, shorten them by making use of the "Navigation title" (available on the publishing platform). Use titles of one to two words.

Don'ts

  • don't use for anything other than global navigation (e.g., don't link to temporary content, such as campaigns, or to pages deeper within the site)
