Pilot projects on energy communities: CE- Implementa

This project aims at developing energy communities to boost citizens’ participation in the energy transition, through renewable energy communities and citizen energy communities. The goal is to complete at least 37 energy-related pilot projects, with participation from the local community. Pilot projects may include participative processes, support for the set-up of local energy communities or the deployment of renewable energy projects themselves. Four different calls for projects are expected, two of which have already been published.

• The first call had a budget of EUR 10 million to promote more than 21 innovative small initiatives for less than EUR 1 million, and has resulted in 45 projects supported in 14 regions for EUR 14.7 million.
• The second call had a budget of EUR 30 million to boost almost twenty medium-to-large projects that exceed EUR 1 million in investment, and it has resulted in 29 projects supported in 12 regions.
• A third call for small initiatives of less than EUR 1 million is currently open until 13 February 2023 (budget EUR 10 million)
• A fourth call for medium-to-large initiatives of over EUR 1 million is currently open (budget EUR 30 million).
