Cultural Networks and Digital Transition

This measure aims to modernise the technological infrastructure of public cultural facilities and promote their digital transition. It will provide a network of cultural facilities, which are mostly public, for the exhibition of digital cinema, covering the national territory of digitised cinema works spaces and new cinematographic productions, as well as for the exhibition of art on digital media.

Of a total of 155 film theatres and contemporary art centres benefiting from technological renewal – including the purchase of digital cinema projection (DCP) and video equipment – contracts were signed for 42 from the Portuguese Theatres and Cinetheatres Network, involving 27 municipalities and entities such as the Braga Theatro Circo and the University of Coimbra.
