The purpose of this investment is to safeguard cultural heritage and enhance public access to cultural monuments of national significance and public cultural infrastructure. The goal is to establish a secure facility that adheres to applicable regulations and standards, fostering a conducive environment for residents and visitors to socialize. The initiative aims to create a more welcoming and orderly space, taking into consideration the available cultural and natural heritage. Additionally, it seeks to augment and complement the tourist offerings of Črnomlje, Bela Krajina, and Slovenia, while raising awareness and fostering social responsibility for cultural heritage preservation.

The comprehensive renovation of the Črnomelj Cultural Center involves intervening in a cultural monument of national importance owned by the state. This investment aligns with the objective of "renovation, restoration, integral revitalization, and modernization of cultural monuments and public cultural infrastructure owned by the state and cultural monuments owned by municipalities with a multiplier effect on economic and tourism development." Beyond its impact on the construction, transportation, real estate, and trade sectors linked to increased tourism, the investment also aims to retain young, educated personnel in Črnomelj.

The extensive renovation of the Črnomelj Cultural Center not only ensures the preservation of cultural heritage but also significantly enhances the potential for developing cultural tourism in Črnomlje, Bela Krajina, and Slovenia as a whole. The revitalized Cultural Center Črnomelj will play a crucial role in promoting sustainable cultural tourism projects, upgrading touristic-cultural products, and hosting exhibitions like "Domovina je kul(ture)." Moreover, through the renovation and preservation of cultural monuments of national importance and public cultural infrastructure, which are mature public investment projects, it is anticipated to expedite economic recovery.

Financial support for this initiative is provided by the Recovery and Resilience Facility, contributing EUR 2.1 million to a project valued at EUR 3 million in total.

The project started in Maj 2022 and will be finalised by December 2025.
