Caput Mundi Next Generation EU for touristic great events (Mission 1, Component 3, Investment 4.3)Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan increases the number of accessible tourist sites in Rome, creating valid and qualified tourist and cultural alternatives with respect to the crowded central areas, as well as increasing the use of digital technologies, enhance green areas and the sustainability of tourism. The investment envisages six lines of interventions:1. “Roman Cultural Heritage for EU-Next Generation”, covering the regeneration and restoration of cultural and urban heritage and complexes of high historical-architectural value of the city of Rome;2. “Jubilee paths” (from pagan to Christian Rome), targeted to the enhancement, safety, anti-seismic consolidation, restoration of places and buildings of historical interest and archaeological pathways;3. #LaCittàCondivisa, covering the redevelopment of sites in peripheral areas;4. #Mitingodiverde, covering interventions on parks, historical gardens, villas and fountains;5. #Roma 4.0, covering the digitalization of cultural services and the development of apps for tourists;6. #Amanotesa, aimed at increasing the supply of cultural offer to peripheries for social integration.The investment is financed by the Recovery and Resilience Facility by EUR 500 million and includes this project.This comprehensive project restores and enhances the Baths of Trajan and Domus Aurea complex. It involves structural consolidation and aesthetic improvements of its portals, fountains, walls, and pavements. The aim is to valorize all areas and improve the environmental setting via a new thematic path. This project is financed by the Recovery and Resilience Facility with EUR 1510000. The project aims to restore an adequate environmental setting to the large ruins of the Baths of Trajan and the structure of the Domus Aurea. Through a thematic path, set at various levels, all areas of interest will be valorized. Specifically, the following works and projects are planned:Monumental Portal in Via Nicola Salvi: verification of the structural stability of the first tuff pillar on the left; consolidation of all the eroded tuff surfaces of the portal; reconstruction of the missing parts with appropriate and state-of-the-art materials; protection of stone surfaces with products that counteract the erosive action of atmospheric agents; cleaning of microbiological agents with adequate biocides, final cleaning, and application of protective material; repair of the pebble mosaic floor of the steps in front of the pedestrian opening on the right.Monumental Portal in Via Mecenate: cleaning of travertine pillars; restoration of ornamental elements of the same material; cleaning of brick parts; removal of invasive weeds from tiled roofs; restoration of missing tiles.Portal in Via delle Terme di Traiano: recovery and adaptation of the systems inside the left propylaeum; cleaning of pillars in the plastered parts and in the travertine stone parts; restoration of ornamental elements of the same material; cleaning of brick parts; removal of invasive weeds from tiled roofs; restoration of missing tiles; restoration of monumental cement grit vases; cleaning of the travertine guard stones.Gates and Fences: recovery of the damaged parts and painting of gates on: Via Labicana, Via del Monte Oppio, Via delle Terme di Traiano, Via delle Terme di Tito, Via Nicola Salvi, Viale Serapide (access to the upper part of the park), Via delle Sette Sale; painting of the entire perimeter fence; construction of a stretch of fence on the slope of Via Nicola Salvi.Water System - Monumental Fountains: activation of a new water system to supply the park's monumental fountains.Fountain-Nymphaeum: verification of the structural stability of the balustrades showing subsidence and detachments; consolidation of the tuff zoomorphic figures; integration of missing or damaged balustrades; overhaul of the decorative wrought iron parts; arrangement of the external perimeter pavement; cleaning of all stone surfaces.Petals Fountains (Fontane dei Petali): consolidation of load-bearing tuff structures; cleaning of the lower and upper tank.Fontana delle Anfore: waterproofing of the basin; central nozzle renovation; compensation for the mixtilinear exedra masonry around the fountain; restoration of decorative amphorae around the fountain.Artistic Drinking Water Fountains: audit of the water system; restoration of stone and brick surfaces.Terracing Walls in Via Labicana: verification of the stability of the terracing walls on the slope of Via Labicana; cleaning of wall sections with brick curtain; consolidation of tuff pillars; repositioning of travertine covers where missing.Pavements: restoration of the cobblestone ditches; integration of pebble mosaics in various points of the park; integration or replacement of the travertine elevations and stairs on the slopes of Via Labicana.Monumental Furnishings: cleaning of all the travertine columns and repositioning of the demolished ones; arrangement of chains in the paths in Viale Monte Oppio; cleaning of benches and possible replacement of damaged ones.Lighting: specific lighting of some areas of the park for safety and aesthetic reasons.
