Biography Martin Selmayr has been the Head of Representation of the European Commission in Austria since November 2019. After joining the Commission in 2004, he served as Spokesperson for Telecoms and Media under President Barroso and then as Chief of Staff for Vice-President Reding. Under President Jean-Claude Juncker, Selmayr served as his Chief of Staff, before being appointed Secretary-General in February 2018. He holds a doctorate in law from the University of Passau and teaches EU Law at the Universities of Saarbrücken, Passau, Vienna and Krems.
