Commission website dedicated to reform support goes live

Today, the European Commission launched a new website dedicated to reform support measures funded by the European Union. These projects support the implementation of reforms in all EU Member States, including helping them recover from the social and economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and to get back on the path of sustainable and inclusive growth.

Since 2017, the European Commission has provided expertise to help design over 1200 reform projects in 27 Member States through the Structural Reform Support Programme. As of 2021, the Technical Support Instrument (TSI), its successor, continues to support reforms with an emphasis on the green and digital transitions. The TSI can also support the preparation and implementation of Member States’ Recovery and Resilience Plans.

DG Reform Director-General Mario Nava said: “We have reached another important milestone with the go-live of the Reform support website. I am very proud of everything we have accomplished working hand in hand with Member States to implement reforms. The new website will be a living point of reference and source of inspiration on reforms”.

The website draws attention to the importance of reforms in nine policy areas: green transition; health and long-term care; digital transition; skills, education and training; public administration and governance; competitiveness; financial sector and access to finance; revenue administration and public financial management; labour market, social protection and migration.

The website is also devoted to the crucial role of Public Administration and Governance. The quality of a country’s Public Administration and governance is a key factor for recovery and resilience both for citizens and businesses.

Furthermore, an interactive map displays where, when and in which areas the support to reform was provided. This mapping tool allows the user to easily find relevant information in each Member State, and makes the browsing experience all the more enjoyable.

On a regular basis the European Commission chooses a project to be its ‘project in the spotlight’. The best practices, from different policy areas and in different countries, are selected on the basis of effective implementation, promising results on the ground, as well as a potential to be replicated across the EU. The first ‘project in the spotlight’ is about Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Belgium. The Commission is supporting the Flanders Investment and Trade to develop a deployment framework for conducting enterprise analysis, design, and planning for the implementation of AI.

Background

The Technical Support Instrument (TSI) is the Commission's instrument to provide technical support to reforms in EU Member States.

TSI is part of the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2021-2027. It has the general objective to promote the Union's economic, social and territorial cohesion by supporting Member States' efforts to implement reforms. The TSI builds on the success of its predecessor, the Structural Reform Support Programme (SRSP). Through the SRSP, the Commission has since 2017 provided technical support to all 27 Member States with more than 1200 projects in a broad range of policy areas.
