SIC, DOIT and INVITE projects were very positive about their participation in the very first Social Innovation Village of the WebSummit 2018.

Armelle Ledanm, from SIC project, said, "Thanks to the amazing support of DG Research and REA, our participation in a high-profile event of this scale gave us great visibility, as well as the opportunity to present and discuss the Social Innovation Declaration with Commissioner Moedas and Ministers from Portugal and France".

For Eva Maria Hollauf, from the DOIT project, the WebSummit is a great opportunity to showcase projects in order "to build a bridge between social and technological innovation." She added, "It's really great to see what possibilities and ideas there are to bring technology into the social good!"

The way ahead for these projects, after having had such visibility, is to explore further opportunities to make the difference at a local level and to put the results into concrete actions with local communities.

Commissioner Moedas is an avid supporter of social innovation, which has been a flagship of his mandate. At the event, he stated: "the EU will fund more social innovation because it’s the future of innovation." Read the full article here.
