Science is full of wonders and nearly 5000 people discovered its marvels at the Parlamentarium on 25-26 September 2018. Around 60 MSCA-funded researchers from across Europe gathered together to present and demonstrate their research to the general public. About 30 projects were shown inside and outside the Parlamentarium, including fun hands-on exhibits for visitors to try out. The project researchers personally presented their work, inspiring the next generation of scientists. Visitors could learn about topics, such as self-driving cars, exosomes, and pioneering treatments for Alzheimer’s disease. Science ContestOn 25 September, the second edition of the science contest Falling Walls Labtook place at the Natural Sciences Museum of Brussels. 30 MSCA-funded researchers had the opportunity to present a three-minute pitch of their research to a distinguished jury representing science and business organisations. All scientific disciplines were eligible and contestants were selected based on an open call. Check out the winners here. The European Researchers’ Night This year’s edition of the European Researchers' Night took place in almost 400 cities across Europe and the globe on 28 September and in some places on 29 September too. The event was a grand display of experiments, science shows and concerts. 29 REA colleagues travelled to different European cities to participate in this annual celebration of research. Background The European Researchers' Night started back in 2005 with the idea of bringing the general public closer to the researchers and their job and encouraging children and youngsters to undertake a research career. REA coordinates the organisation of the event across Europe. Details Publication date4 October 2018AuthorEuropean Research Executive AgencyLocationBrussels
