Horizon 2020 project ReCRED organises privacy and security workshop with participation from UNHCR

The Horizon 2020 project clustering workshop brought together 25 EU funded projects in the domain of cybersecurity, 11 of which are managed by REA unit Safeguarding Secure Society. According to data collected by the organisers, the event had more than 80 000 social media engagements from people around the world.

The event was opened by Susanne Butscher, a senior officer in the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ Identity Management and Registration section. Butscher's work involves digital identity matters with regards to refugees, and she expressed her interest in exploring possible collaborations with some of the projects.

During the workshop, the 25 participating projects had the opportunity to present their results, discuss their achievements and methodologies, and establish synergies. The attendees collectively decided that a workshop will be organised with demonstrations from some of the participating projects to investigate the potential integration of components.

In addition, ReCRED's pilots were showcased in real time, demonstrating the reliability of the platform. The ReCRED project aims to transform a user's mobile device into an authentication tool. It aims to solve the problems that stem from weaknesses in authentication systems by creating a single entry point. The platform uses several modes of authentication, including behavioural and location analysis, to address key security and privacy issues.
