We are pleased to present a brand new multilingual poster created to celebrate #EDLangs! September marks two great events for translators and interpreters: European Day of Languages and International Translation Day. To mark the 20th edition of the European Day of Languages, the European Commission hosts an online conference, Education begins with language. We are also running our #DiscoverTranslation campaign to highlight the role of translation in our daily lives. Stories, videos and interviews showcase the concrete benefits and the omnipresence of translation in all fields of society. They demonstrate the importance of translation in healthcare, in particular during the current COVID-19 pandemic, and present the vital role that translation plays in culture, entertainment, politics and business. More than 80 events are being held all over the EU in September and October. More on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram Background The European Day of Languages on 26 September is a well-established, annual opportunity to raise awareness around language learning and linguistic diversity. It started in 2001, organised jointly by the European Union and the Council of Europe. Many language and cultural institutes, associations, universities and, in particular schools, take part. With funding from Erasmus+, the European Union helps fund local and national events around the European Day of Languages.
