European Commission helps Slovakia monitor public finances

The European Commission and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) supported Slovakia through the Structural Reform Support Programme to review the functions of the Slovak Council for Budget Responsibility.

The review presented today offers a number of options and recommendations to enhance the role and functioning of the Council. This will contribute to strengthening the independent oversight of Slovak fiscal policy.

The Structural Reform Support Programme offers expertise to all EU countries for the implementation of growth-enhancing reforms. The support is based on requests and is tailor-made for the beneficiary country.

Since 2017, the programme has provided support for more than 550 projects in 26EU countries.
