Clear language has been a priority and a passion project for Mark throughout his career. His first job after graduating in 1991 was as an interpreter and translator in Prague. He began working at the EU in 1998 as a translator at the European Parliament, before moving to the Council in 2004. Since joining the Commission in 2008 he has worked in several policy areas and in a variety of capacities, including speechwriter, editor, press officer and policy assistant. He has been the Commission’s Clear Writing Coordinator since February 2024
