With a Master in conference interpreting and a postgraduate degree in Business Management, Margo Sijs began her career as a conference interpreter in Brussels in 2008.
She joined the European Commission as a staff interpreter in 2011 and became Head of the Dutch Interpreting Unit in 2021.
Since 2026 she is the Head of the unit “Meetings with interpretation and New Delivery Modes” at DG SCIC.
Passionate about European and international affairs, Margo is deeply committed to the European project.
She has a strong interest in the evolving role of technology in interpretation and conference organisation, and regularly contributes to events on these topics as a panellist or moderator.
