Lourdes Acedo Montoya is the Chief Economist and Head of Unit of Coordination at Directorate-General for Budget in the European Commission.
She was previously leading the team responsible for the EU long term budget and has held various positions as an economist within the European Commission over the past decade, with a focus on macroeconomic issues. As a fiscal policy expert, she worked on the evaluation and policy design of the Economic Adjustment Programme for Portugal.
Prior to joining the European Commission, she was a teaching assistant at the College of Europe from where she holds a Master’s degree in European Economics. She also studied in Seville (Spain) and Maastricht (the Netherlands).
