EFB Annual Conference 2026

Public finances worldwide are under strain. High debt levels, higher interest rates and growing spending pressures stemming from geopolitical tensions, investment needs and population ageing pose challenges for both monetary and fiscal policymakers. In the European Union, the economic governance framework established by the Stability and Growth Pact has recently been reformed, placing greater emphasis on national ownership and the role of independent analysis.

The year 2026 also marks the 10th anniversary of the European Fiscal Board (EFB). This anniversary conference will bring together leading policymakers, economists and experts to explore strategies for ensuring fiscal responsibility, with particular attention to the role of independent institutions.
