DepartmentEuropean Union Agency for Cybersecurity Biography His unit is responsible for narrowing the skills gap of Europe on cyber security professionals by developing and putting in place the necessary capacity building mechanisms and frameworks. Through ENISA’s leading services or products, like European Cybersecurity Skills Framework (ECSF), the Awareness raising in a Box, Cyber Europe Exercise (EU’s Biggest Cyber Exercise), and the European Cybersecurity Challenge (ECSC), Dr. Ouzounis’ team will hopefully reskill or upskill directly or indirectly via multipliers like the ECCC (European Cybersecurity Competence Centre) thousands of professionals. Prior to this, Dr. Ouzounis assisted Member States on the implementation of the NIS Directive I and II and sectorial policies like 5G toolbox, DORA and Electricity Network CODE. His team has built up ENISA’s evidence-based policy analysis and monitoring, published the NIS Investments reports, and drafted the policy recommendations of NIS 2 Art 18 report. Prior to his position at ENISA, Dr. Ouzounis worked several years at the European Commission (DG Connect) and co-founded Fraunhofer-FOKUS’ Electronic Commerce Centre of Competence (ECCO) in Berlin, Germany. He has managed more than 15 international R&D projects, served as evaluator of numerous EU funded projects, and chaired numerous international academic conferences. Dr. Ouzounis holds a Ph.D from the Technical University of Berlin, a master and bachelor degree in computer science and engineering from the Technical University of Patras, Greece as well as numerous technical and management certificates from prestigious organisation and universities in Europe and US.
