The European Consumer Summit 2020 will bring together up to 500 stakeholders from all European Member States, including policymakers, national enforcement authorities, academia, consumer and business organisations, and youth representatives to begin shaping the future EU Consumer Policy.

Commissioner for Justice and Consumers Didier Reynders will host the event that will feature interventions from key policy makers and stakeholder representatives. There will be workshops covering specific topics in Artificial Intelligence, Safety and Security and Financial Services in the digital age, as well as Sustainable Consumption, and how we can best work together to deliver for EU consumers.

President Ursula von der Leyen’s political guidelines call for upgrading Europe’s unique social market economy to equip it for leading the transition to a healthy planet and a new digital world. Consumers will be a key driving force in this green and digital transition.

The Consumer Summit is therefore dedicated to begin shaping the future Consumer Policy around sustainable consumption, digitalisation and effective enforcement, and improving the way all stakeholders can work together at national and EU level to empower consumers in the green and digital transition.
