On the occasion of the World Cleanup Day, massive beach clean-up activities will take place in Ostia (Rome) on 21 September at 3pm. The event is organised by Retake Roma, a voluntary non-profit movement which tackles the capital's urban decay. The European Commission Representation in Italy will participate in the event within the framework of the #EUBeachCleanUp campaign, with a view to raising awareness about the challenges posed by sea and plastic litter, while informing the public on what the EU does in this field (e.g. EU strategy for plastics in a circular economy).
