EMAS Award Ceremony: Rewarding frontrunners for their commitment to environmental management and continuous improvement of their environmental performance Since 2005, the European Commission organises every two years an EMAS Award ceremony. The objective of this ceremony is to reward EMAS registered organisations for their outstanding performance in a given EMAS-related field and to make organisations, also those that are not yet EMAS registered, aware of all the opportunities that an EMAS registration could bring them. The EMAS Award Ceremony of 2019 will take place in the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao (Spain) on the evening of Monday 25 November 2019. The theme of this year’s EMAS Awards will be: "EMAS as driver of change". The Award is aiming to reward organisations that took a step towards sustainable transition. Participation in the European EMAS Awards 2019 is open to all EMAS registered organisations that are nominated for this Awards by the EMAS Competent Bodies of the EU Member States and EEA countries, either following a national EMAS Awards contest or on the basis of an assessment made by the Competent Body of the organisations' performance in the light of this year's theme for the EMAS Awards. Per EU Member State and EEA country, one organisation of each of the categories that will be defined can be nominated by the Competent Body (Bodies) and a jury will finally select, out of all nominees, a European winner for each of the categories proposed. The number of participants to the EMAS Award Ceremony is limited. Registration for the event and a validation of that registration is a prerequisit for attendance. environmental policy | pollution control measures | circular economy Monday 25 November 2019, 18:00 (CET)Bilbao, Spain Practical information WhenMonday 25 November 2019, 18:00 (CET)WhereGuggenheim Museum Bilbao Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Avenida Abandoibarra, 2, 48009 Bilbao Vizcaya, Spain Description The EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) is a premium management instrument developed by the European Union for companies and other organisations to evaluate, report, and continuously improve their environmental performance.EMAS is open to every type of organisation eager to improve its environmental performance.
