Brukselska 23, Warsaw, Poland Report On February 25, a Citizens’ Dialogue took place at the University of the Third Age at the PROM Culture Center with Mr Bartosz Zadura - Representation of the European Commission in Poland, PhD Elżbieta Skotnica – Illasiewicz -'My Citizens of the EU' Foundation, Team Europe and Mr Marcin Antosiewicz - lecturer at the University of Warsaw and the Vistula Academy of Finance and Business, former TVP correspondent in Germany.As a moderator : Mr Andrzj Godlewski – journalist and lecturer at the SWPS. Students discussed together with EU experts and journalists the benefits of Poland's membership in the EU and the effective fight against lies on the Internet.The audience was very touched by the discussion and they had many questions about not only distortions in the media but also the legitimacy and role of the EU for us Poles.- Poland was quite sceptical of entering the Union - reminded PhD. Elżbieta Skotnicka-Illasiewicz. - Before the Polish accession to the European Union, the most sceptical were farmers and youth. Meanwhile, these two social groups have benefited the most from our membership - she added.The discussion also concerned EU budgets and other essential functions of the European Union, such as the security of Europeans. - With all current disputes and difficulties, we cannot forget why the Union European was created, and what we owe her on the continent. The European Community is the answer to wars that we have fought for centuries.The European Union is the guarantor of peace, and over the years, it has also become a guarantee of well-being. Institutions as we know it today, European Commission, or the European Parliament may be imperfect and officials may make mistakes or make mistakes absurd decisions, but they only serve this idea, which certainly has not lost its relevance – said Marcin Antosiewicz.
