He shared the stage in an open air space, with the Minister of Internal Administration, the Mayor of the town and the coordinator of the Civil Protection. The Europe Direct Information Centre of Portimão has actively helped to the organisation and promotion of the CD.The main issue discussed was the civil protection. The event can be considered as a success story and as a model for the future. Portimão is a headquarter of a tsunami warning centre as the region of Algarve is vulnerable to earthquakes and tsunami but also has been many times affected by fires.Thus civil protection is an issue of high interest of local population and tourists as well. On the other hand, presence and involvement of all partners was very important. National and local media have announced and largely covered the dialogue.All speakers repeated, that because of the climate change and the intensity and complexity of the natural disasters it is important to ensure: prevention, preparedness, information, coordination and solidarity.
