Mr Pranckevičius began with a brief overview of the benefits that the EU provides.The main discussion encompassed the challenges that the EU faces and the issues that will be most important looking forward. The stimulating and informative discussion with an audience made up of schoolchildren of different ages touched upon a broad spectrum of EU-related issues such as the history of EU integration, the current state of the Brexit process, the prospects of future enlargement of the Union, the rise of nationalism and radical right wing parties as well as the EU's response to Russia's annexation of Crimea.Other important discussion points included populism, deeper EU defence integration and plans for the digital single market.
