She presented the objectives of European energy policy, as well as legislative measures taken at the European Union level aiming to improve the quality of environment and climate. She also spoke about the recent projects such as the EU Energy Union and related legislation. The 2030 framework sets the goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40 %, reach 32% renewable energy in the overall energy consumption, 32% improvement in energy efficiency and electricity interconnection at the level of 15%.The EU has the most developed legal framework for Energy Efficiency in the world, setting a strong basis for a long-term political commitment and stable market conditions.Mrs Vašáková also presented the most recent initiative - European Green Deal where EU has the ambition to become the world’s first climate-neutral continent by 2050 and which is the new growth strategy for the EU incorporating climate, energy, environment, agriculture, industrial policy, transport, RD but also broader economic policies in terms of growth and employment.
