Cathy Pearson is a trained conference interpreter who worked in the English booth as a freelance and staff interpreter for many years before moving to the administration. A former teacher she has always been interested in training and is a seasoned trainer of interpreters and trainer of trainers.
After 20 years in SCIC, she moved to LINC in September 2021 to head up the Multilingualism and Succession Planning unit at the European Parliament. In this role she looks for future generations of conference interpreters, liaising closely with universities, the EMCI and other international organisations. As Chair of the Inter-institutional Test Group she works closely with her counterparts in SCIC and the Court, to ensure the smooth running of the accreditation tests, and to prepare for the future.
