Alisa Lang

Alisa Lang

Alisa Lang works at the Goethe-Institutin Rome and as a freelance language service provider. She has worked as an interpreter in settings ranging from hospital appointments to industry conferences and political encounters.

Her in-house experience spans translation and interpreting, internal communications for a top 20 pan-European bank, international cultural policy, language education, and medical web content management.

As a Blue Book Trainee at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Translation in Brussels, she joined the AI-Based Services Unit ('AI Innovation' Sector, Directorate for Technology), designing and developing multilingual AI tools through prototyping and prompt engineering. She conducted testing for an LLM benchmarking dataset localisation project, collaborating closely with the European Master's in Translation Network, and worked towards expanding the Accessible Text tool to additional EU languages. She also contributed to more accessible and inclusive AI outputs.

She holds a Master's degree in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Vienna's Centre for Translation Studies (thesis supervisor: Franz Pöchhacker), with study periods at the Università degli Studi Internazionali in Rome and Newcastle University (UK).

She is on the Young Professionals Support Committee of the Austrian Interpreters' and Translators' Association.
