Alice Delorme Benites is Professor of Human-Machine Communication and Head of the Institute for Multilingual Communication at ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences.
Her research focuses on the use of machine translation by the general public, with a particular emphasis on the potential and risks of machine interpreting tools for crisis communication, particularly in the context of displaced populations.
She has recently initiated a large-scale project aimed at assisting Swiss public institutions (such as hospitals, courts, schools, and asylum centres) in leveraging language technologies to overcome language barriers when communicating with non-native speakers.
