Responsibilities
The European Research Executive Agency (REA) is mandated by the European Commission to support the EU’s research and innovation policy through funding and managing high quality scientific initiatives.
The projects managed by the agency are funded under programmes such as Horizon Europe, Horizon 2020, Promotion of agricultural products and the Research Fund for Coal and Steel.
Beyond programmes, REA also manages horizontal support services – guiding EU funding applicants through the Research Enquiry Service, helping independent experts tasked to evaluate project proposals, and validating grants and procurement operations directly funded by the European Commission.
